On assimile souvent la pratique de l\u2019Ashtanga \u00e0 cette \u00e9cole indienne de Hatha yoga bien connue. Cela m\u00e9rite une mise au point.<\/p><h2>Les Yoga Sutras de Patanjali<\/h2><p><b>La d\u00e9finition originelle de \u201cAshtanga yoga\u201d signifie \u201cyoga en huit \u00e9tapes\u201d<\/b>, comme cela est soulign\u00e9 par Patanjali dans ses Yoga Sutras. Le Yoga Sutra de Patanjali est le premier texte o\u00f9 sont expos\u00e9es de fa\u00e7on structur\u00e9e les diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tapes de l\u2019Ashtanga yoga.<br \/><b>Les huit \u00e9tapes de l\u2019Ashtanga yoga de Patanjali :<\/b><\/p><p>1- Yama (r\u00e8gles \u00e9thiques)<br \/>2- Niyama (autodiscipline)<br \/>3- Asana (posture assise)<br \/>4- Pranayama (contr\u00f4le du souffle)<br \/>5- Pratyahara (retrait des sens)<br \/>6- Dharana (concentration)<br \/>7- Dhyana (contemplation)<br \/>8- Samadhi (absorption)<\/p><p>L\u2019encha\u00eenement des postures (<b>asanas<\/b>) purifie le corps physique, tandis que le contr\u00f4le du souffle (<b>pranayama<\/b>) coupl\u00e9 \u00e0 la concentration (<b>dharana<\/b>) apaise les sens (<b>pratyahara<\/b>), pr\u00e9parant ainsi le pratiquant \u00e0 la m\u00e9ditation (<b>dhyana<\/b>), jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la cessation des perturbations mentales (<b>samadhi<\/b>). Une pratique \u00e9quilibr\u00e9e des asanas repose sur l\u2019\u00e9thique (<b>yama<\/b>) et le contr\u00f4le de soi (<b>niyama<\/b>).<\/p><h2>La contribution de Krishnamacharya<\/h2><p>D\u2019un point de vue pratique, Krishnamacharya a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 le concept de \u201cvinyasa\u201d, qui aide le pratiquant de yoga \u00e0 int\u00e9grer en un tout les huit \u00e9chelons du yoga d\u00e9crits par Patanjali. Cette m\u00e9thode permet de synchroniser une s\u00e9rie de postures avec un type particulier de respiration (ujayi pranayama). Par ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9, on g\u00e9n\u00e8re une chaleur interne et une profonde transpiration d\u00e9toxifiant les muscles et les organes.<br \/>En Ashtanga yoga, les premi\u00e8res s\u00e9ries de postures sont appel\u00e9es yoga chikitsa (yoga th\u00e9rapie). La pratique des s\u00e9ries pr\u00e9liminaires vise \u00e0 purifier le corps et les organes internes. Chaque posture a des vertus sp\u00e9cifiques ; par exemple, les flexions avant tonifient les organes.
