You have built a life, a career, a family, or a project that is close to your heart.
Today, you may feel the desire to deepen certain dimensions of your existence — to preserve your health, cultivate your vitality, better understand how you function, and continue learning throughout life.

Traditional yoga is far more than a physical practice. It is a true art of living that fosters a harmonious relationship with the body, energy, mind, and environment. Through yoga, Ayurveda, breathwork, meditation, and the wisdom traditions of Asia, this training offers a progressive journey toward health, balance, self-knowledge, and transmission. It is intended for those who wish to deepen their practice, better understand life, and develop their capacity to contribute positively to the world, within a serious, modern, and human framework.

The Journey:
Well-being – Personal Fulfillment – Modern Spirituality

The motivations for practicing yoga are varied, but they often begin with the desire to find or maintain better physical and mental balance. Through the teachings of yoga and Ayurveda, we discover how to care for our health, better manage our energy, and develop more harmonious lifestyle habits.

As this stability settles in, the practice also becomes a tool for self-knowledge. It helps us develop discernment, attentiveness, creativity, and a deeper understanding of life. This journey gradually opens the door to genuine personal fulfillment. Part I of the training is dedicated to these foundations: health, balance, the art of living, and personal development.

For some, yoga eventually becomes much more than a wellness practice. It offers privileged access to life’s great questions and to the wisdom traditions that have explored them for centuries. This dimension is not an escape from everyday life, but a deeper way of inhabiting it.

Part II invites you to discover this dimension through study, practice, meditation, and encounters with living traditions during an immersion in Asia. You will explore an approach that is at once authentic, open-minded, and adapted to the realities of the contemporary world.

Part I: Foundations and the Art of Living (230h)

This training begins in October 2026 and runs over 4 months, with a group limited to 10 participants to ensure personalized support. Its goal is to build solid foundations: a well-integrated yoga practice, an understanding of the core principles of Ayurveda to support health and life balance, a gradual introduction to meditation, and the discovery of philosophical teachings that are both profound and accessible.

Over these four months, participants learn to integrate yoga tools into their daily lives, better understand how they function, and develop a consistent, sustainable practice adapted to their own reality.

The “Foundations and the Art of Living” training is open to anyone who wishes to build a solid foundation for integrating yoga and Ayurveda into a healthier, more conscious lifestyle.

It is not necessary to have practiced yoga for a long time. What matters most is your sincere interest and open-mindedness.

By the end of this program, you will have established a routine for regular yoga practice, with a solid understanding of a series of movements and postures, while having developed a degree of inner awareness.

You will also have discovered the Ayurveda toolkit, which brings greater harmony to your life through an adapted yoga practice as well as other elements such as diet and daily habits.

Finally, you will gain confidence and groundedness — two essential prerequisites for deepening yoga as a path toward personal fulfillment and spiritual inquiry, as offered in Part II of our training.

In Summary

At Surya, yoga is not considered solely as physical training. We explore the richness of Ayurveda and the depth of yogic teachings in order to better understand ourselves and the world around us. This approach allows us to practice — and teach — yoga as a path of well-being, personal fulfillment, and inner development, in a perspective that is consistent with the realities of the modern world.

This vision is grounded in the expertise and commitment of Surya’s founder, Stéphane Chollet. The entire program takes place in small groups, with attentive and personalized support from the Surya team.

Starting in fall 2026, we are offering a multi-stage training program. If you are relatively new to yoga, the Foundations and Art of Living (230h) training will allow you to build solid foundations in Yoga and Ayurveda, while discovering new perspectives on health, life balance, and personal development.

If you have already completed a yoga teacher training, the Yoga & Ayurveda Module (50h) will allow you to enrich your practice through a deeper Ayurvedic approach.

From there, you can access our Deepening and Living Tradition (270h) training, which offers a unique introduction to yogic perspectives that have the potential to transform your life.

Yoga – Surya's Vision

Yoga is a discipline of incredible philosophical depth and great effectiveness in its practical application. In Sanskrit, yoga means “to unite, to join.” The tradition indeed speaks of connecting the small with the vast, and of expanding our field of consciousness.

We believe that yoga is about working on oneself through a skillful balance of physical, energetic, emotional, and mental practices. The practice respects each individual’s choices, ways of life, and cultures, and allows us to live those choices in a richer, more complete, more responsible, and more conscious way. Slowly but surely, yoga guides us toward our essence — without force, without taboo, without belief, without pressure, without condition. It is the path of true freedom and true happiness.

Questions and Answers

No. While this training provides the knowledge and skills needed to teach yoga, it is also intended for those who simply wish to deepen their practice and integrate the teachings of yoga and Ayurveda into their daily lives.

Many participants join the training to better understand their health, develop a more independent practice, enrich their self-knowledge, or pursue a personal journey. The pedagogical dimension is an excellent way to deepen one’s knowledge, even without any intention to teach.

For those who wish to share yoga with others, the training also offers a progressive pathway to develop the skills needed for serious, adapted, and respectful teaching that meets each student’s needs.

No. This training is open to everyone, regardless of their convictions, beliefs, or traditions, and is not associated with any particular religion.

Our approach focuses primarily on understanding the human being in its physical, energetic, emotional, mental, and inner dimensions. The teachings of yoga and Ayurveda are presented as tools for exploration, self-knowledge, and the art of living, from a perspective that is universal, open-minded, and respectful of diverse viewpoints.

Participants are invited to reflect, experiment, and form their own understanding of the teachings offered.

No. It is not necessary to be particularly flexible or to master advanced postures to participate in this training.

Traditional yoga rests on a fundamental principle: the practice must adapt to the person, not the other way around. We place great importance on understanding the body, listening to its limits, and allowing each person to progress gradually.

We are above all looking for motivated, curious people who are ready to commit to a regular practice. Whether your goal is to deepen your personal practice or develop teaching skills, you will be supported in progressing at your own pace.

Absolutely. Part I is designed as a complete training in its own right. It allows you to build solid foundations in yoga, Ayurveda, and pedagogy, while developing a sustainable personal practice integrated into your lifestyle.

Part II is an optional deepening for those who wish to continue the journey and explore the more advanced dimensions of yoga through contact with living traditions in Asia. It includes the study of the pedagogy specific to Suryashtanga Yoga as well as the elements specific to its transmission. As such, only the full 500-hour training allows participants to officially teach Suryashtanga Yoga within the Surya World network.

Yoga was born in Asia and developed within cultures, ways of life, and traditions that continue to inspire millions of people today. While it is possible to study yoga through books and practice, certain dimensions are more easily understood when experienced directly in the field.

This immersion allows participants to discover yoga in its original context, meet teachers steeped in this wisdom, visit places marked by its history, and better understand the connections between yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, the art of living, and the search for meaning.

Beyond the journey itself, this experience often offers a fresh perspective on one’s practice, one’s life, and the teachings studied during the training.

Our training does not pursue Yoga Alliance accreditation.
While this international recognition may be useful for some who wish to teach in studios or abroad, we have chosen to prioritize pedagogical freedom in order to build a program that fully reflects our vision of yoga.

Our program places significant emphasis on Ayurveda, art of living, personal development, meditation, and immersion with living traditions in Asia. Some of these elements go well beyond the standards typically required by certification bodies.

Our priority is not to meet an administrative checklist, but to offer a coherent, in-depth, and transformative training that allows participants to integrate yoga into their lives and, for those who wish, to transmit it with competence and discernment.
