Teacher Training / Deepen your Practice
March 2026 – March 2027
450 hours with 2 weeks in India
Are you curious to dive into the depths of yoga?
To enhance your practice and understanding, in order to unlock its immense potential for your personal development?
And acquire the tools to share this wonderful practice with others?
Surya World offers an exceptional training course, based on our community’s long experience in yoga as an art of living, our many trips to the roots of the tradition in India and the great expertise of our school’s founder, Stéphane Chollet.
This training is for anyone who wishes to
- learn more about the rich teachings of Yoga and Ayurveda,
- deepen their practice (asanas, pranayama, meditation) and possibly teach,
- gain a better understanding of themselves and others.
Our journey begins with two weeks of immersion in India, followed by online and local modules, over a total duration of one year. The training is a certified program to become a yoga teacher.

Yoga - Surya's Vision
Yoga is a discipline of incredible philosophical depth, and of great effect in its practical application. In Sanskrit, yoga means “union”. Indeed, the tradition speaks of connecting the small and the large, and expanding our field of consciousness.
We believe that yoga is about working on oneself through a skilful balance of physical, energetic, emotional and mental practices. It respects the choices, ways and cultures of each individual, and enables us to live these choices in a richer, fuller, more responsible and conscious way. Slowly but surely, it guides us towards our essence, without force, taboos, beliefs, pressures or conditions. It’s a path to true freedom.
Yoga anc Ayurveda - learning at its source in India

Ayurveda, the traditional Indian medicine, takes into account all the layers of our being, from body to mind, their synergy and balance. Yoga and Ayurveda are closely linked and rooted in the Vedic tradition.
At Surya World, we consider Ayurvedic recommendations to fine-tune our yoga practice, while yoga is not limited to physical postures but is considered in its traditional integrality.

Structure and Content
Surya World is committed to offering a comprehensive yoga training program, covering many areas of the discipline:
- Study of postures (asanas) and their practice from an Ayurvedic perspective.
- Work on the individual as a whole, that is, on the different levels of being and their synergy (physical, energetic, emotional, and mental in particular).
- The science of Raja Yoga which covers a vast field of evolution, from establishing lifestyle hygiene rules to prepare the body, to the most advanced stages of meditation.
- Surya pedagogy: we support future teachers as they learn to teach yoga to groups and individuals.
4 Training Modules
The teacher training course takes 450 hours (one year from the start of training to the end of the fourth module), divided into 4 main modules.
Module 1 « KNOWLEDGE »
2-week retreat in India, including 12 days of training, 8 hours a day. Objective: to learn, understand and practice Yoga and Ayurveda in depth.
Module 2 « PUT KNOWLEDGE INTO PRACTICE »
This module takes place between the two in-person sessions. This period of around 6 months is essential in establishing your personal practice, built on the intense learning acquired in the first module.
We meet regularly online to review your progress, and also to discuss the basic course literature.
Module 3 « TRANSMIT KNOWLEDGE »
5-day course in France (or Canada, depending on the number of participants). You’ll focus on the pedagogical aspects of teaching. You’ll learn how to pass on what you’ve learned and how to support students at different levels.
Module 4 « INTEGRATION »
Write a 40-page essay. This will be an opportunity to review what you have learned and relate it to a specific topic of your choice.
The Surya World teacher training goes far beyond learning asanas. It’s a true transformation!
It brings you face to face with yourself through an intense and comprehensive practice, and an encounter with an ancestral tradition of incredibly profound knowledge and philosophy.
Your teachers, a dedicated team
You’ll have the opportunity to benefit from the expert teachings of Stéphane Chollet, founder of Surya World. Stéphane’s experience and teaching leave no one indifferent. His pedagogy, his knowledge of India, his understanding of yoga, and his teachings are of great value to everyone who has the occasion to connect with him personally.
At the same time, you will be guided throughout this adventure by a dedicated team of teachers who have themselves lived the experience of immersion in the world of yoga with Surya World.
Questions and Answers
I'm relatively new to yoga. What are the prerequisites for participating in the training?
The most important prerequisite is your curiosity and commitment to exploring in depth your relationship to yourself, to others and to the world through the tools of yoga!
If you’re worried that your physical condition might be an obstacle to intense asana sessions, rest assured: one of our fundamental principles is to adapt the practice to each individual’s abilities and needs.
Why does the training begin with two weeks in India?
To begin a true inner journey, it is helpful to take a step back from our daily lives and open up to new perspectives.
India is a fascinating country where yoga, in its many forms, is an integral part of the culture. A two-week immersion in the country’s traditional way of life offers a wealth of experiences and a deeper understanding of this art of living.
Is the training only in French, for people who live in France?
No, we welcome participants from all over the world, and are very flexible in this respect.
We are happy to translate all communications into English, we have regular online meetings, and we’ll explore the possibility of in-person meetings throughout the year, depending on your location and availability.
How much does the 450-hour course cost?
We’ll be happy to give you all the details, including financial considerations, in a personal discussion. What counts above all is your sincere desire to deepen the teachings of yoga.
Surya World has a wealth of expertise to share, and it is together, with the commitment of the participants, that a lively and profound learning environment is created. All the logistical aspects are important, of course, but the right intention opens the necessary doors at the right time.
