“Yoga should be accessible to all, regardless of age, culture, physical or social condition.”
– Śrī T Krishnamacharya

Until a few decades ago, the teaching of yoga was transmitted confidentially and remained hardly accessible to the general public. Yogācārya Śrī T. Krishnamacharya, born in a small village in southern India, traveled long distances to join his master Śrī Ramamohan Brahmachariwith whom he studied yoga for over eight years in Tibet. As a yoga teacher, ayurvedic healer and scholar, he has been instrumental in opening up the transmission of yoga to the world.

Śrī T. Krishnamacharya contributed to the rediscovery of Viniyoga, including the practice of vinyāsa.. His commitment to the rebirth of Haṭhayoga was essential in reviving ancient teachings. A specialist in the Yogasūtra of Patañjali he mastered āsanas, prāṇāyāma as well as the therapeutic dimensions of yoga. He prescribed postures taking into account each person’s constitution (Vāta, Pitta, Kapha) and state of health. He is best known for his ability to relieving and healing physical and mental suffering.
