Purpose of Kriya Yoga

Kriya Yoga is a form of rhythmic breathing that allows you to manipulate your breath and connect it to energy – Prana – and raise it to higher levels of consciousness. It is an experience of bliss, in which your mind expands and becomes a point of contact with the Whole.

Sri M’s lineage

Sri M was initiated into the practice of Kriya Yoga by his personal Guru Maheshwarnath Babaji, from the Nath Sampradaya tradition. His Guru was Sri Guru Babaji.

Sri M, (born Mumtaz Ali Khan) in a Muslim family in Kerala (India) is a Yogi with an extraordinary journey. Leaving his family at the age of 19, he spent three and a half years with his master in the Himalayas, living in caves and walking freely throughout the snowy region. From Maheshwarnath Babaji he learned Kriya Yoga, Vedanta, the Upanishads and many Indian wisdom teachings.

Back “in the world”, Sri M worked to spread these teachings to as many people as possible. He wrote many books on spirituality and yogic techniques, as well as a magnificent autobiography in two volumes. In 1994, Sri M created the “Satsang Foundation“, a meeting point for spiritual seekers of all major religions. Within this framework, Sri M creates schools, health centres, yoga schools, retreat centres, carries out humanitarian and environmental projects, missions of dialogue and meeting around human and spirituality. To spread a message of peace and harmony, he led the March of Hope in 2015-16 from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in 15 months and travelled 7500 km across 11 states of India.

As a speaker, Sri M. has been invited to many institutions such as the World Health Organisation, the United Nations Office in Switzerland, the World Bank in the USA and the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. He has spoken to companies in India and abroad: Google and Yahoo in the US, among others.

In 2020, Sri M was awarded the ‘Padma Bhushan’, India’s third highest civilian award, in the wisdom category.
